1. How TypeGenius Works
The application functions as an Input Method Editor with three operational aspects:
Local Processing: Standard typing occurs entirely on-device with no server transmission of keystrokes.
AI Feature Processing: Users who explicitly activate AI capabilities (voice transcription, grammar correction, text enhancement, Genius) send specific text to secure servers for processing.
No Keystroke Logging: We do NOT log, store, or analyse your typing patterns, passwords, or any text unless you activate AI features.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Text for AI Processing: Temporary processing when activating voice-to-text, grammar correction, text enhancement, or translation features
- Genius Instructions and Context: Processing of user instructions and selected text context, sent to servers and third-party AI providers, not retained afterwards
- Voice Recordings: Audio transmitted, processed, and immediately deleted
- Feedback Submissions: In-app “Help Us Improve” feedback responses stored in database
- Email Address (Optional): Provided voluntarily when submitting feedback for follow-up purposes only
- Support Communications: Email address and communication content collected during support interactions
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Instance Identifier: Randomly generated UUID managing subscriptions and daily usage limits, not linked to device hardware or personal identity
- Usage Counts: Tracking feature usage frequency to enforce daily limits without storing text content
- Subscription Status: Active Pro subscription status determining usage limits
- Device Information (Feedback Only): Basic device details included with feedback submissions only
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Device hardware identifiers
- Passwords or sensitive credentials
- Payment information
- Precise location data
- Contacts or address book
- Photos, files, or media
- Browsing history
- Crash reports or diagnostics
- Text from standard keyboard use without AI features
3. How We Use Your Information

4. Data Retention
All server-stored data — including instance identifiers, usage records, feedback, and associated emails — undergoes automatic deletion within 90 days without user request.
- Text and Voice Data: Real-time processing, immediate deletion post-processing
- Genius Instructions and Context: Real-time processing, immediate deletion after AI response generation
- Usage Counts: Server storage with daily reset, automatic deletion within 90 days
- Instance Identifiers: Stored for usage management and feedback association, automatic deletion within 90 days
- Feedback Submissions: Stored for service improvement, automatic deletion within 90 days (earlier deletion available upon request)
- Email Addresses (Feedback): Retained for follow-up, automatic deletion within 90 days
- Support Communications: Retention up to 24 months for ongoing support provision
5. Data Storage and Security
- Encryption in Transit: TLS 1.2 or higher encryption for all device-to-server data transmission
- Secure Infrastructure: Backend hosted on Railway, a SOC 2 compliant platform
- Database Security: Feedback and usage data in secured database with restricted authorised access
- Access Controls: System access limited to authorised personnel only
- No Long-Term Content Storage: Text, voice, and Genius instructions processed in-memory only, never written to persistent storage
- Local Data: Keyboard preferences and settings stored locally on-device, never transmitted to servers
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
6.1 Service Providers
- OpenAI: Powers AI features including Genius. Text, voice, and instructions sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's policy specifies API data is not used to train their models
- Railway: Backend infrastructure provider without content data access
- Google Play: Payment processing handling — we do not receive or store payment information
6.2 Legal Requirements
Information may be disclosed if required by law, court order, government request, or to protect user rights, safety, and service security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 All Users
- Opt-Out of AI Features: Use TypeGenius as a standard keyboard without AI activation
- Manage Permissions: Revoke microphone and other permissions through device settings
- Feedback Deletion: Request deletion of submitted feedback and associated email addresses
- Uninstall: Remove the application to halt all data collection
- Contact Us: Request information about data associated with your instance identifier
7.2 European Economic Area (EEA) Users — GDPR Rights
EEA residents hold the following additional rights:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of held personal data
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of personal data
- Right to Restrict Processing: Request limitation of data usage

TypeGenius is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents or guardians believing their child provided personal information should contact aibusinesscollab@gmail.com immediately for deletion.
9. Third-Party Services
The application integrates with:
- OpenAI API: Powers voice transcription (Whisper), text enhancement (GPT), and Genius feature (GPT)
- Google Play Billing: Handles subscription payments
10. Advertising
TypeGenius does NOT display advertisements. We do NOT share your data with advertising networks and do NOT use your data for advertising purposes.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy periodically, updating the “Last Updated” date accordingly. Continued application use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
